If you read Sue’s story on eating local, you might be wondering: How do I join the Slow Food movement?
It’s easy!
Go to www.slowfoodusa.org and read the page, then click to join. Where it asks for Convivia (yes, a bit precious), put Harrisburg. The Harrisburg chapter isn’t quite together yet, but Curtis Vreeland of Shipoke is assembling a crack team of organizers and it’s all coming together very s-l-o-w-l-y. Appropriate, huh?
Anyway, I queried Slow Food and even though Hbg isn’t listed, it’s okay.
The first dinner will be …
in January at HACC, thanks to the interest in local foods of associate dean Linda Lefevre, Chef Michael Finch and Chef Jim Switzenberg. It will be a Meet the Producer theme focusing on Pennsylvania’s artisanal cheeses.
Besides members, we need a person knowledgeable in accounting to serve as treasurer, and a good writer willing to do public relations. Email me if you’re interested, and I’ll pass it on to Curtis.
I would be interested in joining. I can write. I majored in English Literature in college and practice law in Harrisburg now.
I am interested in joining your group.. How do i get more information???
