Food — As Seen on TV

Grant Butler of the Oregonian did a terrific piece on the new culinary video websites. They may be the cookbooks of the future, blending technique, recipe and demo into an easily accessible form.

Here are the best sites so far:

Taste TV is a sophisticated site with chefs’ recipes in a variety of cuisines, food news and restaurant reviews.

Real Meals is slightly down-market, offering both “secret” restaurant recipes and regular folks in their kitchens.

Gourmandia is French-based cooking, but in order to get the recipes in print form you have to subscribe.

In Cucina is Italian, very Italian, and the videos are cool. This is the (mostly) English version.

In culinary school and getting ready to trade the writing life for the cooking life. Or not. Might do both. At the moment I'm a feature writer for The Patriot-News in Harrisburg, Pa. My name is Pat Carroll.
